The Wooden Ladle, Oldsmar

The Wooden Ladle in Oldsmar is casual Asian dining where the food is authentic and the atmosphere relaxed, here is my review.  Order and pay at the screens by the door when you go in, seat yourself at either small tables or the longer more communal wooden tables – they can probably seat 10.

I met my daughter for lunch earlier this week, and the restaurant was quiet with a handful of tables occupied by couples or individuals staring at their phones.   There was a steady rotation of people through the restaurant for the hour and a half we were there.

The menu is centered around noodles and pho dishes, poke – delicious looking mixed bowls of meat or fish with vegetables and an array of different sauces – and some small plates such as edamame or spring rolls.

She chose the vegetarian pho and I had the spicy chicken ramen, both with a cup of green tea.   Mine was meaty, with bright flavors from the sauce and the vegetables with just the right amount of heat.   Hers was a delicious bowl of vegetables, rice noodles and fried tofu served in a flavorful broth.  Both dishes were as tasty as the photos!

When we were finished we sat and chatted for a while and were there for a good hour and a half – no one hovering around the table or hassling us.  It was just a casual, relaxed and easy going experience with fabulous food.   The Wooden Ladle in Oldsmar is just a fantastic place to stop by and eat great Asian food, I highly recommend it!
